UNDP: Bumiputras the poorest

KUALA LUMPUR: The indigenous groups from Sabah and Sarawak are among the poorest people in the country.
United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) resident representative Dr Richard Leete said the indigenous groups, who were bumiputras, and also those from the east coast states like Kelantan and Terengganu were the poorest in the country.
"The most intense poverty is not among the Indians but the indigenous groups in Sabah, Sarawak and those who live in the east coast states," he said at a press conference in conjunction with the International Poverty Conference here today.
He said Malaysia had successfully reduced the poverty rate from 49.3% in the 1970s to only 5.7% in 2004. He added that 93% of the people living in poverty in Malaysia were bumiputras.
In 2004, the poverty rate among the bumiputras was 8.3% while it was 2.9% for Indians and 0.6% for the Chinese.

Inilaa nasib kita,merempat di negeri sendiri.Kambing di kandang mengembek harimau di hutan mengaum.
Majority bumiputras tapi poverty rate is the highest.Nampaknya tiada saper akan tolong OA melainkan OA sendiri,contohilah kaum minority lain yg berjaya.Jangan biarkan kita hanyut dengan janji manis UMNO,pilihanraya adalah salah satu jalan terbaik.
Nak buat peaceful gathering pun dah tak bagi,kita dah diperbodohkan.Marilah kita sama-sama ubah taraf hidup kita tanpa mengorbankan asal-usul dan adat resam kita.
